Morning: Ville Haute and the fortress edge
Start at 8:30 at Place d’Armes with coffee at Namur, then walk five minutes to the Grand Ducal Palace for the exterior (guards change on the hour). By 9:30 you’re at the Bock Casemates entrance on Montée de Clausen; buy the ticket on the spot and give it 75 minutes underground. Come out along the Chemin de la Corniche — the promoted "most beautiful balcony of Europe" line is overused, but the view over the Alzette valley genuinely earns 20 minutes of your morning.
Loop back via Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame for a quick look at the crypt, then aim for lunch by 12:30. Um Piquet on Rue de la Boucherie does a solid judd mat gaardebounen if you want the national dish; otherwise Konrad Café on Rue du Nord is quicker and cheaper at around 15 euros.
