3-star hotels in Esch-sur-Alzette
A shortlist of 3-star hotels in Esch-sur-Alzette for travellers who want to see Luxembourg's industrial side. It suits those happy with a plain streetscape and a base outside the capital, who don't need boutique rooms or fine dining.
Staying in Esch-sur-Alzette
Esch-sur-Alzette is Luxembourg's southern industrial town, close to the French border. Its main draw is Belval, the former steelworks now shared by the University of Luxembourg campus, the Rockhal concert venue and the preserved Hauts Fourneaux blast furnaces. The town has a pedestrian centre with Place de la Résistance and Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, but the streetscape is plainer than Luxembourg City's Old Town. There is no walkable historic core of the kind you find in the capital, and upmarket dining and boutique hotels are not part of the scene here.
The 3-star hotels on this list sit along Route D'esch and Rue De Luxembourg, the main roads into town, with others further out in Eischen, Redange-sur-Attert and Hobscheid. This suits couples and short-break visitors who plan to spend their days at Belval and commute to Luxembourg City for anything upmarket. Families will find self-catering apartments with kitchens and multiple beds, while business travellers get free wifi, desks and parking in several buildings. It is less suited to anyone wanting a historic centre on the doorstep.
