Luxembourg packs its places to stay into a compact set of very different areas. Gare and Kirchberg carry the largest choice, with 30 and 14 hotels; Bonnevoie and Cents are close behind at 26 and 29. Beyond the capital, Mondorf-les-Bains stands out with 28 hotels and the south's spa-town feel, while Vianden offers 14 places in the far north.
Picking an area comes down to what you want on the doorstep. Ville Haute, Belair, Limpertsberg and Grund put you in the historic city, Kirchberg in the modern quarter, Clausen and Pfaffenthal in the valleys below the centre. For parking, Bonnevoie, Cents and Vianden lead. For families, Pfaffenthal, Vianden and Esch-Sur-Alzette have the most family-friendly stays.

Photo: Vanessa V. / PexelsThree-star hotels carry every area on the list, from Gare and Kirchberg to Esch-sur-Alzette and Hollerich, and they are the practical choice where choice and parking matter most: Bonnevoie has 15 places with parking, Cents 12, Vianden 9. Four- and 5-star hotels are concentrated in fewer places — Gare, Mondorf-les-Bains, Pfaffenthal, Ville Haute and Bonnevoie — and Ville Haute holds the most 5-star hotels, 3 of them. If you want the widest spread of 3-star rooms, start with Gare, Cents and Bonnevoie; if you want the highest category, Ville Haute and Gare.

Ville Haute holds 14 hotels, all 4- and 5-star, and 3 of them are 5-star, right in the historic centre. Gare, with 30 hotels, is the largest choice of anywhere to stay, and Bonnevoie adds 26 more places close to the city.
Pfaffenthal has 9 family-friendly hotels among 22 places, the highest count anywhere. Vianden follows with 6 family hotels out of 14, and Kirchberg and Mondorf-les-Bains each have 4.
Bonnevoie leads with 15 hotels offering parking, then Cents with 12, Vianden with 9, and Kirchberg and Esch-Sur-Alzette with 7 each. Limpertsberg and Hollerich have 5 each.
Three areas have 5-star hotels: Ville Haute with 3, and Gare and Mondorf-les-Bains with 1 each. No other area on the list has any 5-star hotel.
The city quarters keep you close to everything: Ville Haute, Gare, Belair, Limpertsberg and Grund all sit in or beside the capital, with 14, 30, 11, 9 and 8 hotels respectively. Kirchberg adds 14 more.
Clausen, Grund and Hollerich each have 8 hotels, while Limpertsberg and Esch-sur-Alzette have 9. These are quieter bases with a smaller choice of rooms.
