4- and 5-star hotels in Mondorf-les-Bains
A shortlist of the 4- and 5-star hotels and apartments available in Mondorf-les-Bains, the small spa and casino town on the French border. It is for travellers coming for the thermal baths, the casino and the Belle Époque streets, and for anyone who wants a short, calm break rather than a city stay.
Staying in Mondorf-les-Bains
Mondorf-les-Bains is a small spa and casino town on the French border, with a genteel Belle Époque feel, thermal baths, casino, and park walks with ponds and mature trees. The thermal water comes from a spring first tapped in the 1840s, and the Domaine Thermal still trades on that mineral pedigree: sodium chloride and sulphate water, warm rather than scalding, closer to a heated lido than a volcanic spa. Local season-pass holders from Luxembourg City and Dudelange keep weekday mornings half-empty, while weekends bring families and a livelier crowd.
The hotels on this shortlist are not in Mondorf-les-Bains itself: every address given is in Luxembourg, on Rue De Strasbourg, Avenue De La Liberté, Rue Glesener, Rue Fort Elisabeth, Rue Jean Origer, Rue André Duchscher or Place Sainte Cunégonde. They suit travellers who want a 4- or 5-star base in the city and plan to reach the spa town by bus or car. Couples and short-break guests are the best fit, with apartments and family rooms for longer stays and business travellers.

Plan your stay
Getting there and around
Bus 172 or 305 from Luxembourg Gare is free and takes 35-40 minutes, dropping you close to Avenue des Bains, and the town itself is small enough to cover on foot. Most day-trippers do exactly that. A car only really helps if you plan to drive on into France afterwards. Within Mondorf-les-Bains, start at the thermal complex on Avenue des Bains, walk through the municipal park with its ponds and mature trees, exit at the southern edge to the French border, cross briefly into Mondorff village for a coffee, then return via the church square: about 45 minutes flat, on paved paths the whole way, manageable in ordinary shoes and fine for a slow post-spa stroll.
When to go
Weekday mornings are the calm version of the thermal baths: locals from Luxembourg City and nearby Dudelange buy season passes rather than drop in once, so the pools are half-empty then. Weekends bring families and a noisier crowd. If you want quiet, come Tuesday to Thursday before 11am. Day passes rarely sell out, but specific treatments such as massage and hammam fill up 2-3 weeks ahead, especially at weekends, so book online. The park loop and the walk across to Mondorff work in any season.
