From Neudorf, the Alzette valley trails are on your doorstep and connect to a network reaching Sandweiler, Cents and Larochette. The centre is about 3km, or 20 minutes on bus 9. Walking the valley path to Clausen and then up the lift takes about 45 minutes and is genuinely scenic. To reach Clausen along the river, start at the west end of Rue de Neudorf near the bakery, drop to the signed Alzette footpath and follow it west through the wooded valley, passing beneath the old stone road bridge and a run of allotment gardens, until the brewery buildings of Rives de Clausen come into view.
When to go
The valley path is the point of Neudorf, so come when you can use it: spring and autumn give the best walking, with the woods along the Alzette at their most pleasant. Bring proper shoes, as some sections are muddy after rain. In winter the river footpath is unlit and better avoided after sunset unless you know it well; the 20-minute walk back from Rives de Clausen is fine on the road path but takes a torch or phone light. After dark the main street has street lighting throughout.
